Viuf Solar Park grid connected – a blueprint for community-driven renewable energy

Viuf Solar Park in Denmark is now delivering green power to the grid — a groundbreaking, community-driven energy project that redefines how large-scale solar can benefit both people and nature.

Better Energy is excited to announce that Viuf Solar Park has now been connected to the grid, with first energy delivery on July 23, 2025. The grid connection marks the final step in bringing our largest renewable energy park online, a park designed to not only deliver green power but also reshape what a solar park can mean for a region.

Spanning 344 hectares across the municipalities of Kolding and Vejle in Denmark, the solar park in Viuf is expected to produce 258 GWh of renewable electricity annually. But the true power of this project lies in the way it has been developed: in partnership with people, municipalities and nature.

From the beginning, Viuf was envisioned as more than an energy site. With one-third of the area dedicated to nature restoration and recreation, the park features reopened streams, groundwater protection, an 11-km trail system, shelters and even a pedestrian tunnel to connect communities safely. It was shaped by a collaborative process involving local residents, associations and municipal leaders. Viuf is a true blueprint for how large-scale renewable energy can work in harmony with the people and landscapes it touches.

Viuf Solar Park sets the standard for future projects. It has received recognition from national nature advocates, municipal leaders and local civic associations. Viuf is a landmark project – not just for Better Energy, but for the future of renewable energy in Europe.
