Impactful dialogue with local communities

Vedde Solar Park is an example of how constructive dialogue with local communities can help shape the design of a renewable energy project. Based on feedback from the community, the planned area for the project site was reconsidered and adjusted. This collaborative approach has ensured that the project takes into account both community interests and environmental priorities.

PPA partner supplying local manufacturing site with renewable energy

The large entreprise FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies has entered a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Better Energy to supply a Danish manufacturing site with green energy. The PPA starts in July 2025 and is expected to cover the total electricity consumption at the company’s biopharmaceutical manufacturing site in Hillerød, Denmark, including new operations coming online in 2024.

Local dialogue

Early in the process, meetings were held with the closest neighbours. Areas have been taken out of the project area for the sake of neighbours and the landscape. Conversely, the project area was also expanded on the basis of a neighbours' meeting, where a neighbour wanted to make an adjacent area available for the solar park.

The sheep make sure that grasses and herbs do not grow up and shade the panels. The animals get shelter from the solar panels and fresh grass, while the farmers take advantage of the open spaces.

Converting farmland to produce renewable energy

The local plan area is in a rural zone and comprises an approximately 104 hectares area of arable land, located south of Vedde. The area is currently used for agricultural purposes.

To the north, the local plan area follows Tjørntvedvej, while to the east it follows existing dikes and windbreaks. To the west and south, the local plan area borders agricultural areas, including scattered windbreaks and small forest areas.
